At Habitat for Humanity Kansas (HFHKS), we believe that everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to call home. That's why we are dedicated to supporting local Habitat organizations across Kansas, so that together we can fulfill our mission of building homes, communities, and hope. We approach our work with a collaborative mindset, recognizing that the best way to make a difference is by working together. Our role is not to supervise or direct local affiliates, but rather to provide them with the resources and support they need to serve their communities more effectively. We are proud to be partners in this work, providing advocacy, resource development, training, technical assistance, and disaster response services to local affiliates. By empowering local affiliates, we are able to extend the impact of our collective efforts, reaching more families and individuals who are in need of affordable housing solutions. Our partnerships with various stakeholders, including government agencies, non-profits, and corporations, enable us to work toward a common goal of safe, decent, and affordable housing for all.

At HFHKS, we know that the need for affordable housing in Kansas is great. But we also know that together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of those who are struggling. By working side-by-side with our local affiliates, we are building more than just homes – we are building stronger communities and brighter futures.

  • History of Habitat for Humanity

    Founded in 1976, Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit housing organization working in over 1,300 communities across the United States and in approximately 70 countries around the world. Habitat has served over 10,000,000 people around the world with housing needs. Habitat works toward our vision by building strength, stability, and self-reliance in partnership with people and families in need of a decent and affordable home.

  • History of Habitat for Humanity Kansas

    Since 2019, the network of sixteen Habitat affiliates serving 19 counties across Kansas have been working together to expand the capacity of local affiliates through networking and collaborations. These activities were first coordinated through an Advisory Council made up of leaders of Kansas affiliates and community supporters and then an official Board of Directors in 2022 who hired an employee to coordinate operational activities including administering gap funding grants available to all Kansas affiliates. In May 2023, Habitat Kansas received approval for affiliation from Habitat for Humanity International to become an Affiliate Support Organization (ASO) and will continue the work under the 501c3 umbrella of Habitat for Humanity International.
